FAFSA without the DRT – tips for your students

Try working a day without your phone or your email. It's hard to imagine, right? We've become so accustomed to technology that having it taken away is a little stunning.

That's how many of us in the financial aid industry feel about the removal of the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT). In addition to a possible increased workload for financial aid offices, we need to communicate with students and parents about what the removal of the DRT means for them.

That's why Mapping Your Future has created the "Tips for completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) without the IRS Data Retrieval Tool" flyer. To get a copy of the flyer or if you have any questions or comments, contact the Mapping Your Future staff at feedback@mappingyourfuture.org or (800) 374-4072.

As mentioned in the March 10 Electronic Announcement, the IRS Data Retrieval Tool is anticipated to be unavailable for several weeks. Mapping Your Future will continue to monitor any updates from the Department of Education and provide updated communication for your students and parents.
