It's taken a total immersion in financial aid for me to understand what all the acronyms mean.

Still, it seems like I am coming across a new acronym every day. Even those of us who’ve been in financial aid a – ahem – few years have to admit that once in a while we get tripped up.

That's why it's nice to have a resource – a sort of financial aid dictionary – to help translate all the acronyms into English language. Federal Student Aid recently announced a new Appendix A – Federal Student Aid Glossary and Acronyms, which is part of the Federal Student Aid Handbook, is available in a PDF format.

If you're new to financial aid or if you just forget an acronym every now and then, the appendix can help you stay fluent the secret language of financial aid professionals.
