Avoiding debt |
||||||||||||||||
Enabling students to avoid student loan debt by working is not a new concept. It is especially not new to work colleges - some that have been around for more than 100 years. And as more and more students look for options to avoid student loan debt, there may be growing interest in work colleges. Currently, there are nine colleges across the country that meet federal regulations to be a part of the Department of Education's Work Colleges Program. In a February 2 Electronic Announcement, the Department reminded institutions that the application to participate in the Work Colleges Program for the 2021-22 Award Year must be submitted no later than March 1, 2021. In the Announcement, the Department provides instructions on how to apply for the program, including submitting the application electronically via the Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) website. The Department also reminds school that the Work Colleges Application is not an application to participate in the Federal Work-Study Program. | ||||||||||||||||
