Seminole State College in Sanford, FL

 Why You're Here

Before you get your Federal Stafford student loan, you are required by federal regulation to complete an entrance counseling session. It shows you how to manage your student loans, both during and after college.   All students must complete this session the first time they apply for loans at SCC.  You will also be required to complete a similar session called Exit Counseling once you complete your degree at SCC or drop below half time  (6 credit hours).

Please make sure you have completed the following steps:

  1. Completed FAFSA for the current school year and SCC has the information on file our school code is 001520.
  2. Submit all documents required by SCC.
  3. Complete this Entrance Counseling Session.

When will my loan be available?

Loan funds do not come in until after the term has started.  If your file has been completed and your loan certified before the start of the term, you might receive funds as early as 2 weeks after classes start.  First time borrowers at SCC with less than 24 credit hours will not have funds released until 30 days from the start of the term.  You will need to make arrangements to cover book and supply expenses out of pocket, there are no book loans or vouchers.

You must be attending 6 credit hours in order for your loans to be disbursed, please check the actual starting date for all of your classes.

**LAW-VC students due to the various start date for your classes we are not usually able to disburse funds until mid way through your term again check the start date for each class.

Tuition Deferment

You may defer your tuition only against your requested loan as long as we have your request on file.  To do this you must come to the Financial Aid office after you register for your classes to complete the paperwork for a deferment.  We can then defer your tuition until 60 days after the start of classes.  If your loan is not completed by this time, you will need to make payment arrangements with the Business Office.
