2019-2020 ISIR Guide

You may not be walking around with it tucked in your back pocket, but the 2019-2020 ISIR Guide is a handy reference if you spend your days analyzing information students and parents provide on the FAFSA application.

The Department of Education (ED) announced last week that the 106-page booklet is now available for review - a few weeks prior to the Oct. 1 release date of the FAFSA. In a September 6 Electronic Announcement, the Department announced that the guide is now available on the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) website and will soon be available from the Federal Student Aid Download (FSAdownload) website, located at https://fsadownload.ed.gov.

The ISIR Guide assists financial aid administrators (FAAs) with interpreting student information on the Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR). ISIRs contain processed student information reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), as well as key processing results and National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) financial aid history information. ISIRs are sent electronically to institutions by the Central Processing System (CPS).

If you have questions, contact CPS/SAIG Technical Support at 1-800-330-5947 (TDD/TTY 1-800-511-5806) or by email at CPSSAIG@ed.gov.

It won't be long before you'll have the 2019-2020 ISIR Guide memorized - okay maybe not memorized but know it well enough you won't have to carry it around. You can free up that back pocket for other things - like maybe the FSA Handbook.
