Another opportunity to comment on the 2020-21 Federal Student Aid Application Materials

The Department of Education is collecting a second round of comments on the updated draft version of the 2020-21 Federal Student Aid Application materials.

According to a July 8 Electronic Announcement, anyone can submit comments on the materials, but must do by August 2.

According to the Announcement, the Department has made some changes to the application as a result of comments received during the earlier comment period, and those changes are explained in the FAFSA Enhancements Summary documents, which can be found at https://www.regulations.gov/document?D=ED-2019-ICCD-0039-0068.

Included in the posted documentation are:

  • The updated draft of the 2020-21 FAFSA form;
  • The updated draft of the 2020-21 SAR;
  • The updated draft of the 2020-21 SAR Acknowledgement;
  • The updated Paper Summary of Enhancements to the 2020-21 Free Application for Federal Student Aid;
  • The updated Student Electronic Entry Summary of Enhancements to the 2020-21 Free Application for Federal Student Aid;
  • The 2020-21 Data Elements Justification, which provides an explanation for every question on the FAFSA form; and
  • The Supporting Statement for the 2020-21 FAFSA form

Comments should be submitted electronically through the Federal eRulemaking Portal at www.regulations.gov by searching on Docket ID number ED-2019-ICCD-0039-0067 or by going directly to the site at https://www.regulations.gov/document?D=ED-2019-ICCD-0039-0067.
