FSA Plan

If you want to have some say in how the Office of Federal Student Aid is managed in the next few years, now's your chance.

In a September 23 Electronic Announcement, the Department of Education is asking you to review and provide feedback on the draft 2020-24 Strategic Plan for Federal Student Aid (FSA). The 77-page plan provides an overview of FSA, reviews trends in student aid, includes the mission, and outlines FSA's future goals, objectives, and performance measures.

The draft plan lists the following goals for FSA:

• Empower a High-Performing Organization
• Provide World-Class Customer Experience to the Students, Parents, and Borrowers
• Increase Partner Engagement and Oversight Effectiveness
• Strengthen Data Protection and Cybersecurity Safeguards
• Enhance the Management and Transparency of the Portfolio

In the Announcement, the Department said the strategic plan illustrates an exciting new direction for Federal Student Aid (FSA) through the Next Gen FSA initiative to modernize the services, operations, and workforce for the 21st century. In its final form, the strategic plan will be their road map for the future.

You can submit your input using the feedback form by 11:59 p.m. Eastern time (ET) on October 23. The Department also will host a live webinar in late September to provide an overview of the draft strategic plan. If you are interested in attending the webinar, register at https://cvent.me/kM8lyY.
