New address for COD School Relations Center

By Catherine Mueller

July 26, 2022

In some news that hopefully falls in the category of “good-to-know” and not “need-to-know,” the Department of Education announced a new address for a school relations center.

In a July 25 Electronic Announcement, the Department said the Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) School Relations Center will move operations from Niagara Falls, NY to Fairfax, VA, effective July 27.

Because most schools process files electronically, the move should have little impact, according to the Department, but they note that schools should note and use the new addresses as soon as possible   .

The new addresses for sending paper MPN packages, Direct PLUS Loan endorser addenda, and Campus-Based signature pages and forms to the U.S. Department of Education are provided in the table below.

Post Office Box (standard mail)

Street Address (overnight or commercial courier)

U.S. Department of Education
P.O. Box 1130
Fairfax, VA 22033

U.S. Department of Education
4050 Legato Road, #1100
Fairfax, VA 22033

After July 27, 2022, correspondence sent via the U.S. Postal Service to the Niagara Falls, NY address will be forwarded to the Fairfax, VA address until the end of the year. Correspondence sent via overnight mail or a commercial courier (FedEx, UPS, etc.) to the former street address in Niagara Falls, NY cannot be forwarded. Instead, it will be returned to the school.

The Department said it is in the process of updating the new address information in posted documents and forms and on the appropriate websites. However, the Department added that it may take some time to make the updates and the old address may appear in printed and online publications for some time.

Schools with questions about the new address should contact the COD School Relations Center at 1-800-848-0978 or via email at CODSupport@ed.gov.
